Actor Mark Ruffalo Pushes 'Heavy Regulation' for Twitter
We are now just a few weeks into the Elon Musk era of Twitter, and the liberal left has been raging against the eccentric billionaire and the platform the entire time.
Musk has made it very clear that he intends to “unlock” Twitter in hopes of ushering in a new era of unfettered free speech online. This has many of the left side of the aisle positively furious, as it means that year and years of online censorship of conservative viewpoints could soon be coming to an end on the social media site.
Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo was the latest high-profile name to publicly rage against Musk’s plans.
“As a worldwide ‘public square,’ this app should be heavily regulated for misinformation & spamming by hostile interests,” the actor tweeted Thursday. “If Elon can’t do that with his ‘company,’ it should be seen as a public utility under governmental supervision. This system unregulated will be more deadly.”
Ruffalo was rebuked almost immediately by legal experts.
Several lawyers and other observers weighed in to challenge Ruffalo’s thought process and what his plan would mean for free speech.
“That’s not how any of this works,” lawyer Ari Cohn replied.

This isn’t the first time that Ruffalo and Musk have gotten into it, with the Avengers actor previously suggesting that Musk himself “get off Twitter” and “hand the keys” to someone else after the Tesla CEO was involved in a bitter spat with precocious progressive lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
