After Putin's Ominous Threat, Russian TV Lists US Nuke Targets

Despite, or perhaps in spite of, the liberal left’s insistence that President Donald Trump is some sort of KGB double agent, Russian President Vladimir Putin is lashing out.

Of course, when Russian leaders lash out, the world typically stops and takes notice.  Not only is Russia simply an enormous nation with resources the likes of which are unrivaled elsewhere on the globe, but their apparent fondness for clandestine military maneuver keeps many a world leader awake into the wee hours of the night.

After Putin last week told the US that he was ready for a nuclear arms race on the European continent, more specific threats against American targets have now been made, including the disclosure of a number of places in the United States toward which Russian weapons could be aimed.

Russian state television has listed U.S. military facilities that Moscow would target in the event of a nuclear strike, and said that a hypersonic missile Russia is developing would be able to hit them in less than five minutes.

The targets included the Pentagon and the presidential retreat in Camp David, Maryland.

The report, unusual even by the sometimes bellicose standards of Russian state TV, was broadcast on Sunday evening, days after President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was militarily ready for a “Cuban Missile”-style crisis if the United States wanted one.

The absurd threat comes directly from the kerfuffle over European nukes, it seems.

With tensions rising over Russian fears that the United States might deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe as a Cold War-era arms-control treaty unravels, Putin has said Russia would be forced to respond by placing hypersonic nuclear missiles on submarines near U.S. waters.

This is merely the latest in a long line of conflict escalations that have occurred between the United States and Russia in recent years, beginning with Barack Obama’s absurd diplomatic tantrum at the end of his lame duck term, in which the former President restricted Moscow’s political envoy to the US.
