Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's Response to Sri Lanka Bombings Lambasted by Press
Nary a day goes by in which freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez finds herself on the outside of the news cycle looking in.
Make no mistake about it, this is certainly purposeful, especially after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lamented that a “glass of water with a ‘D'” could have won her district back in 2018.
But that’s not to say that AOC is untalented, specifically in the realm of keeping herself in the crosshairs of the media. The old adage about “no bad press” is undoubtedly one of the progressive politician’s most treasured creeds.
That is why her silence on the Sri Lanka terror attacks of Easter Sunday is remarkable.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which left 359 people dead, and shared images purporting to show the seven bombers who blew themselves up at three churches and three hotels on Sunday. The government also confirmed that the attacks came from Islamic fundamentalists.
Yet Ocasio-Cortez, who has previously been quick to comment on other terror attacks such as the Christchurch mosque shootings in March, hasn’t yet said anything regarding the tragedy in Sri Lanka — which took the lives of several American citizens.
One of those who took to Twitter to call out AOC’s lack of response was television entertainer Piers Morgan:
Twitter-obsessed @AOC posted 14 times about the terror attack on Muslims in New Zealand, but has posted nothing about the terror attack on Christians by Muslim extremists in Sri Lanka.
Very odd.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) April 23, 2019
Ocasio-Cortez has been drawing criticism from the republican well for some time, but to see Morgan lambasting the democratic diva is simply more proof of the left’s ongoing civil war, as well as AOC’s selective outrage.
