AOC Makes Remarkable Claim About Texas' Political Future
If there is one thing that we understand explicitly about Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, it is her mastery of the limelight.
AOC, (as she has branded herself), has been one of the most attention-prone Congresspersons in the United States from the very start of her short political career, seemingly prioritizing social media stats and headlines over her actual congressional schedule.
Her latest attempt at grabbing some attention comes via a bizarre and purposefully-irritating statement meant to annoy the vast number of conservatives in the Lone Star State.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) told a masked San Antonio crowd that “Texas turning blue is inevitable” while she stumped for two Democratic congressional candidates Saturday.
Ocasio-Cortez made the comments during a voting rally at the Paper Tiger live music venue, where she endorsed progressive Democrat candidates Jessica Cisneros and Greg Casar, who are running for seats in the state’s 28th and 35th Congressional districts, respectively, MySanAntonio.com reported. The primary elections are set for March 1.
Her full statement:
“Here’s what’s exciting about Jessica’s race and Greg’s race, is that if we flip Texas, we flip the country…Texas turning blue is inevitable. The only question is when. We are going to fight for a living wage, we are going to make sure we unionize the hell out of this state… and we’re going to make sure that not one dime is made exploitatively across any worker, especially the undocumented.”
Inevitable is certainly a heavy bit of verbiage here, and there is little doubt that AOC knew that when she chose to make such a bold claim.
