Author of Report on New Kavanaugh Allegation Reveals Motivation for Accuser Coming Forward

The Democrats have been accused of using people like Christine Blasey Ford, who has made unsubstantiated sexual assault claims against SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, as political weapons geared toward preventing a Republican from being appointed to the bench.

It seems pretty clear there’s an attempt to delay the vote on Kavanaugh until after the November midterms.

Well the author of the report about a second allegation against Kavanaugh has stated the only reason this accuser came forward was because Democrats came looking for her.

That doesn’t do much to dispel the whole “weaponized accusation” theory does it?

“In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty,” Farrow and Jane Mayer reported for The New Yorker on Sunday. “After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, [Deborah] Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

In an exchange highlighted by Mediaite, Farrow — who was also the author of a New Yorker piece revealing Christine Blasey Ford’s identity as well as one of the bombshell reports on Harvey Weinstein — spoke with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton staffer, on “Good Morning America” Monday.

“This jumped out at me,” said Stephanopoulos. “You said at first she wasn’t sure if this was Kavanaugh last week, and you write after six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorneys she did become confident that it was him.”

“Why did she come forward?” asked the host. In response, Farrow stressed the role Senate Democrats played in digging up the allegation.

“She came forward because Senate Democrats came looking for this claim,” said Farrow. “She did not flag this. This came to the attention of people on the Hill independently, and it has cornered her into an awkward position. She said, point-blank, I don’t want to ruin anyone’s life, but she feels this is a serious claim. She considers her own memories credible and she felt it was important to tell her own story before others did for her.”

Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but regardless, no matter who the GOP chose to put up for nomination, they were going to be treated like this and put under a microscope, every little transgression they ever committed dragged into the public.

This is how politics is played this day and age, which is why it has become more and more critical for folks considering entering the political arena to be of high moral character.
