Bartender-Turned-House Rep Shares Offensive "Green Revolution" Cocktails

Sometimes, we’re not sure if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is accidentally providing us with material to mock, or if she is sincerely the person that she puts on social media.

I’m not going to pretend that I know what’s going on with Ocasio-Cortez, but there is an air about her social media presence that is far more calculated than chaos.  Even amid the constant push to ridicule her among right-wing media outlets, she has always had an out, per se.  She was always ready with her retort.

She’s a meme-machine, undoubtedly, but is this all a calculated ruse to lull us into paying attention to her?  Or, worse, is Ocasio-Cortez drumming up this attention by being slightly off or goofy on purpose?  Is she the kind of person who would revel in attention of any kind, just so long as her name stayed on the lips of the media.

Heck, she even made it easier for us to refer to her, coining the moniker “AOC” in a brilliant marketing move.

Now, as her Green New Deal sits on the horizon of our political valley, she is again pushing out the absurdity with cocktail recipes for “revolution”.

Massive Migrant Caravan Marches Toward US with LGBT Flags Flying as Mexican President Snubs Biden at Summit

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted recipes for “cocktails for revolution” on her Twitter page on Monday.

Ocasio-Cortez posted the following five “recipes”:

– World w/o a #GreenNewDeal: a Bitter Dark n’ Stormy

– Clean transport: an Aviation, but hold the crème de violette

– Bridges, Not Walls: a Mezcal Greyhound

– Paid Parental Leave: Mocktail margarita

– Policy Failure: anything w/ Goldschläger

How isn’t “Mezcal Greyhound” considered offensive when it refers to a busloads of Latinos?

Given that AOC is a former bartender, who made no effort to distance herself from that fact in an effort to appeal to the service industry voting demographic that populates hipster-prone Brooklyn, this post seems extraordinarily curated.

It would come as no surprise to discover that this list was at one point three times the length, and written by interns on a dry erase board somewhere on Capitol Hill.

Perhaps the alternative is more embarrassing, come to think of it.
