Beto’s New Buddies Betray His 2020 Ambitions in NH, Iowa

It won’t be long now before we start hearing the rumors.

During the 2018 midterm elections, a few fresh faces became household names.

One of those was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the plucky freshman representative from NYC who urges her supporters to indoctrinate themselves into the ideas of democratic socialism while wearing $3,500 suits during inner city photo shoots.

The other name, “Beto” O’Rourke, was a young man who was looking forward to unseating Ted Cruz for a powerful Texas Senate seat.  Beto was unsuccessful, but not for a lack of effort – particularly in the realm of pop culture.

O’Rourke participated in a number of literal stunts, in which videos began to emerge of the young politician skateboarding in a Whataburger parking lot, skateboarding across the stage at at least one rally, and winding up in the pages of Thrasher Magazine – a move that has been lambasted by the skateboard world as the end of Thrasher’s counter culture credentials.

Now, the man whose speech patterns are directly reminiscent of a hybrid between JFK and Barack Obama, has been flirting with the idea of a Presidential run in 2020.  The company he’s been keeping in key states such as New Hampshire and Iowa seem to bolster that possibility.

Members of Rep. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke’s (D-TX) inner circle are reportedly in talks with top political operatives who assisted former President Barack Obama’s campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa, according to CNBC.

CNBC, citing multiple sources with knowledge of the conversations, reports the discussions are being spearheaded by O’Rourke’s chief of staff, David Wysong. However, details of what has been discussed between O’Rourke’s camp and Obama allies in key primary states is unclear.

“This is the phase for someone exploring a presidential campaign in that they’re doing everything they can to decide who they may want to run an organization and who they could turn to if he enters the race,” one unnamed Obama aide told CNBC.

Of course, if both Beto and Hillary Clinton were to enter the 2020 race on the democratic side, that could complicate things for the young Texan…namely due to the resources that would presumable be in the pocket of the former First Lady.
