Big Pharma Continues to Pillage US Population, Offering Nothing Substantial to Congress

President Trump has made large strides in dismantling the less effective portions of Obamacare, but it may be time to turn his attention to the Ivory Towers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Big Pharma

The American healthcare system needs work.  And a lot of it.

Certainly, the disastrous, cobbled-together calamity of Obamacare has a great deal to do with this.  By attempting to legally and financially force Americans to turn over hundreds or thousands of dollars per month to the already-bloated, private health insurance industry, Barack Obama essentially sealed our fates for the foreseeable future.  Not only are Americans now in debt to the government from the moment they are old enough to purchase their own health insurance, but the market is now saturated with captive consumers.

Predictably, health insurance premiums have continued to rise, as insurers have no reason to compete.

It’s despicable, true, but President Donald Trump has been making some strides in combating the authoritarian, oligarchy-galvanizing nonsense.

Now, however, as the focus shifts to prescription drug prices, the goons in Big Pharma are digging their heels in.

Executives from seven drugmakers laid out their ideas for lowering drug prices to the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday. One idea was noticeably absent: lowering drug prices.

The companies — AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Pfizer and Sanofi — threw their support behind a number of Trump administration proposals and pitched some of their own ideas in written testimony submitted ahead of the hearing. Executives championed the investments their companies make and the lives they save, while acknowledging patients cannot benefit if they can’t afford medication.

They criticized middlemen, including pharma’s favorite target, pharmacy benefit managers, for pocketing discounts instead of passing them along to patients. They suggested changes to Medicare, including capping the amount seniors would pay for on their own at the pharmacy counter every year.

But none of the seven drugmakers committed to, or even suggested, lowering the list prices of their drugs. Some referenced these prices as simply the price that’s advertised, not what consumers actually pay.

With Americans increasingly feeling the squeeze from these sleazy wealth-jockeys, one can only hope that the President can take to neutering Big Pharma in the same way that he has begun to demolish Obamacare and its mandate.

Here’s a story you don’t see all the time…or ever. Then again, this is the year 2020 – anything goes. If you’re a history buff, here’s your break from politics for a few minutes. Check this out, via News & Observer: The historic Cape Hatteras Light Station grounds were closed Thursday after a bomb appeared in the surf at Buxton on the Outer Banks, according to the National Park Service. A half-mile safety perimeter was established to keep tourists out, including the lighthouse grounds, nearby parking lots and surrounding beach, officials said in a release. The iconic lighthouse, with its famous black and white stripes, dates to 1870. “After careful examination, a U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit from Norfolk, Virginia, confirmed that the object … is a live military ordnance,” the National Park Service said in an update Thursday night. Trump Was A Longtime Presbyterian, Now He Says He Is Non-Denominational Christian

Doin’ things his way…

From New York Post: President Trump, who has long identified as a Presbyterian, now considers himself a non-denominational Christian, a new report said. The president shared his change in religious identity in a written interview with the Religious News Service. “Though I was confirmed at a Presbyterian church as a child, I now consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian,” Trump wrote, without giving an explanation for the transformation or saying when it occurred. Because everything is so PC and everybody is afraid of saying the wrong thing, free speech is at an all-time low. People are getting fired from their jobs, even expelled from school. At the end of the day, this proves that the left is winning. And it has to stop.
