The story surrounding the disappearance and death of Gabby Petito has been a tragic, sorrowful saga, and there are fears that her friends and family may never truly find closure in the case…especially now that the only person of interest in the case has been found dead.
Petito’s fiancé, Brian Laundrie, with whom the charismatic young woman was traveling the country with at the time of her demise, is also dead. Laundrie himself went missing weeks after returning home from their joint trip alone – just days before Petito’s body was found near a campsite that the two shared in Wyoming. Gabby had been strangled to death and dumped, but no further information would be available without Brian’s unwilling, and now impossible, cooperation.
Then, when Brian’s partial remains were eventually discovered in a nature preserve near his family home, nearly all hope was lost for Gabby’s family to learn the truth.
Authorities have now revealed Brian’s cause of death.
Deceased fugitive Brian Laundrie died of suicide, a forensic anthropologist told Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino on Tuesday.Trending:
Laundrie took his own life with a gunshot wound to the head, Bertolino said.
The lawyer then made quite the uncouth statement.
“Chris and Robert are still mourning the loss of their son and are hopeful that these findings bring closure to both families,” he said.
A journal found near Brian’s remains was said to be salvageable by police, but the contents of the notebook have not yet been revealed.
