Cheney Targets 2022 Campaign Rival via J6 Committee
The Republican Party has been warning us about the potential abuses of the January 6th select committee for months now, but even the most nightmarish take on the group likely didn’t predict what we’re seeing this week.
That’s because Liz Cheney, one of the few “Republican” members of the committee, (who is not recognized as a Republican by her state GOP), has apparently weaponized the committee against one of her political enemies.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) appears to have used the January 6 committee as a political weapon against her primary opponent.
Advertisement - story continues belowIt is no secret that Liz Cheney’s political career as an establishment Republican took a nosedive into oblivion when she sided with the Democrats in their January 6 witch hunt. Since then, her primary opponent, Harriet Hageman, has been trouncing Cheney in the polls and now leads by a whopping 30 points.
Here is where it gets ugly:
After a dismal first hearing for the January 6 committee that pulled in just 19 million viewers across the United States, Liz Cheney has now subpoenaed former Donald Trump campaign manager William Stepien, who also just so happens to be Hageman’s campaign adviser.
Of course, Cheney is on quite a few folks’ bad side, including the former President.
Former President Trump held a rally for Hageman in late May where he referred to Cheney as a “backstabbing” RINO.
“Worse than the terrible Democrats are the backstabbing RINO Republicans that are helping them do their act,” Trump said. “And there is no RINO in America who has thrown in her lot with the radical left more than Liz Cheney.”
Cheney’s supporters have consistently pushed the idea that the Wyoming politician is some sort of governmental “martyr”, giving up her career and standing within the GOP for the sake of the J6 committee’s work.
