CNN Makes Absurd Claim About 'Fake Electors' Plot
When it comes to American politics, there is one thing that has become increasingly clear in the modern era: Accuracy is not as impactful as a bodacious headline.
We are a nation bereft with drama, particularly as it pertains to our political sphere, and we are certainly suckers for hyperbole. The mainstream media feeds of of this reality, whipping us into ever more fraught frenzies for the sake of ratings.
This week, the big “reveal” that CNN teased was some nigh-unbelievable plot regarding “fake electors” and Rudy Giuliani.
Officials on Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign, led by his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, oversaw efforts to put forward illegitimate electors from seven states that the former president lost, CNN reported on Thursday, citing three sources.
There were multiple planning calls between campaign officials and Republican Party state operatives with Giuliani being involved in at least one call, one source said, in efforts to stop Joe Biden’s victory when Congress met on Jan 6, 2021.
Of course, “one source said” is not exactly a profound endorsement of such a wild claim, and should be taken at face value.
This didn’t stop CNN from running with the story, however, and it even prompted a tirade by Anderson Cooper in primetime.
