Americans have a mighty distrust of the mainstream media as of late. While many would like to blame this on the ramblings of President Donald Trump, the phenomenon has been a near permanent piece of our American history.
In fact, the very ethos of the First Amendment is proof positive that Americans have been rightfully questioning authority for centuries. The freedom that we bequeathed upon the press in our nation’s founding was for the purpose of combating “fake news” and propaganda. Those would have the First Amendment adjusted in any way are merely doing so to advance their own agenda by quashing the dissenting voices. (I’m looking at you, Google).
What’s worse still in our modern age of digital fascism is the fact that the mainstream media appears to be actively playing along…and, according to new reports, may even be playing an active role in anti-Trump governmental affairs.
An FBI email states that the “trigger” for CNN to first break the story revealing salacious and unsubstantiated claims made inside the infamous anti-Trump dossier was the leaking of ex-FBI Director James Comey’s official briefing on the dossier claims to President Donald Trump.
CNN on January 10, 2017 was first to report leaked information that the contents of the dossier were presented during classified briefings one week earlier to Trump and then-President Barack Obama.Trending:
Prior to CNN’s report leaking the briefings, which was picked up by news agencies worldwide, the contents of the dossier had been circulating among news media outlets, but the sensational claims were largely considered too risky to publish.
So, not only were the contents of the “Steele Dossier” wholly unverified at the time of their publishing, but it seems as though a secret plan to leak the information was in place all along.
CNN’s handling of the story was also amateurish at best.
The CNN story reported that “spokespeople for the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment.” The same story cites “sources” and “national security officials.”
CNN also reported without attribution: “The FBI is investigating the credibility and accuracy of these allegations, which are based primarily on information from Russian sources, but has not confirmed many essential details in the memos about Mr. Trump.”
These sort of shenanigans are precisely why we must maintain our First Amendment rights at all times, and not allow the liberal media to bury stories from so-called “conservative” sources.
