President Trump remains in Washington DC as Democrats vacation during the government shutdown.

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, who has left a litany of problems in his wake (see below), was photographed in Puerto Rico.

Hillary Clinton is a self-described feminist.

Yet, she campaigned for Menendez in 2016, a man “who was nearly convicted of corruption and who has long been dogged by allegations of sexual impropriety.”

From The Daily Wire:

Hillary Clinton, now a self-declared “feminist icon” and “believe all women” activist, is traveling to New Jersey this weekend and apparently is leaving her sense of irony at home — she’s hosting a fundraiser for embattled Senate Democrat Bob Menendez who was nearly convicted of corruption and who has long been dogged by allegations of sexual impropriety.

Bob Menendez was accused of partying with prostitutes in the Dominican Republic, and unsubstantiated allegations about his extracurriculars have dogged him for years. According to the stories, Menendez used a donor’s private plane to jet between Miami and the island nation, where he took part in “parties” which sometimes involved underaged girls.

On the mistrial, per Reuters:

The corruption trial of New Jersey’s Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Menendez ended in a mistrial on Thursday, after the jury said it was hopelessly deadlocked on bribery, fraud and other charges.

It was a shame that Republican Bob Hugin lost to Menendez.

It was mostly expected given how blue New Jersey is, but a shame nonetheless.

Why he was rewarded with another term is anyone’s guess, but the fact that people chose to look beyond Menendez’s problems says a lot.

What’s crazy is that a juror from Bob’s corruption trial attended his victory party.

A little weird?

From Daily Wire:

North Jersey Record reporter Scott Fallon reported that Evelyn Arroyo-Maultsby, of Hillside, New Jersey, attended Menendez’s victory party in a Hoboken hotel.

“Arroyo-Maultsby became slightly famous when she left the jury during deliberations to go on vacation – arrangements she made with U.S. District Judge William H. Walls, along with defense lawyers and prosecutors,” Fallon wrote. “Arroyo-Maultsby wore a Menendez T-shirt on Tuesday night that she received at a rally last month.”

Except for leadership positions, every member of Congress earns $174,000 taxpayer dollars annually.

Of course that’s way too much, but that’s a story for another day.

Freshman Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw, the Navy SEAL whose war wounds were made fun of by “Saturday Night Live,” just made a widely-praised announcement about his salary during the government shutdown.

From Daily Wire:

Freshly sworn-in Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw is not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. The popular Texas congressman announced Thursday that he will not be taking a paycheck until the security at the southern border is properly funded and the government shutdown ends.

He wrote:

I cannot in good conscience get paid while federal employees’ financial futures hang in the balance because of this partial government shutdown. I’ve asked the Chief Administrative Officer to withhold my pay until we have come to an agreement to adequately fund border security.

Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called for members of Congress to not accept their pay during a shutdown, but she has yet to make an announcement similar to Crenshaw’s…
