Dem Rep. Says She's 'Only' Victim of Gun Violence in Congress

We understand that politicians lie, cheat, and steal their way through campaigns and the like, but just how blatant can they be before someone is willing to call them on it?

In the case of one House member from California, the fib was so obvious that it demanded a swift and stern rebuke.

Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., claimed Wednesday that she is the only member of the U.S. House who is a victim of gun violence, appearing to forget Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., in her pitch for more gun control.

“I believe I’m the only member of this House that is a victim of gun violence,” Speier said on the House floor. “My body is riddled with bullets. I have a divot in my leg that’s the size of a football. I’ve skin grafts on all parts of my body. I live with that every single day.”

Speier was shot in 1978 during the Jonestown massacre.

Lousiana Rep. Steve Scalise, however, was shot in 2017 during practice for an annual congressional baseball game by a crazed liberal who once worked for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign.

Several members of Congress were injured in that incident, with Scalise having suffered the most horrible injuries on the day.
