Democrat Joe Manchin Burns Beto, Says 'He's Not Taking My Guns From Me'

It’s very, very rare for me to ever applaud a Democrat for well, basically anything, but Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin recently delivered a message to fellow presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke that left me stunned as I launched into an immediate slow clap.

Manchin stated he was no fan of the way O’Rourke fielded questions about gun rights and how he made it seem that his position was the default Democrat position.

He also said that O’Rourke wasn’t going to take his guns and finished by saying, “You tell Beto that, okay?”

Whew.

That’s a burn. A big, nasty burn.

O’Rourke promised Americans during the last Democratic presidential primary debate that “hell yes,” he’s going to take law-abiding citizens’ guns, such as AR-15s and AK-47s.

“Beto’s one human being. He gave his own opinion, OK?” Sen. Manchin told Wall Street Journal reporter Lindsay Wise. “I think it was very harmful to make it look like all the Democrats.”

“I can tell you one thing: [Beto O’Rourke’s] not taking my guns away from me,” Manchin added. “You tell Beto that OK?”

Manchin went on to clarify that he personally does not own an AR-15, so the buyback program wouldn’t impact him at all.

This is simply amazing. A Democrat who isn’t necessarily a radical gun grabber? Stop the presses. This has to be a hoax, right? There’s no way such an individual exists. There just can’t be. This does not compute.

At the end of the day, Manchin is still a Democrat, which is the last thing this country needs in the White House, but hey, at least this guy seems a bit more sensible than most folks in his party.

Either way, O’Rourke isn’t taking his guns, and you know what, he’s not taking mine either.
