Democrat Louisiana Governor Wins Re-Election, Defeats Republican Challenger Eddie Rispone
It was a nail-biter, just as it was in Kentucky last week. But the result was the same. A Democrat defeated a Republican for the governorship. First, Matt Bevin lost his race. On Saturday, Eddie Rispone lost his in Louisiana.
Rispone sought to become the Pelican State’s governor, having never before run for public office. He had tremendous support from President Trump. Naturally, the left will declare this a hit on 45’s record. Here’s the break down, via The Hill:
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) won a second term on Saturday, overcoming a wealthy Republican challenger in a state that has increasingly leaned to the right in recent years.

Reactions:

The final margin is likely to be very close. A Dem strategist I just spoke with credits LSU’s win vs. Alabama for voters’ satisfaction w/ direction of state & Edwards’s razor-thin victory. #LAGOV

We all know major cities are trending blue, but Edwards (D) breaking 90% in Orleans Parish is still pretty breathtaking. #LAGOV

A key to tonight’s #LAGOV outcome: the small but critical bloc of Ralph Abraham (R) primary voters who either stayed home or voted for Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) in the runoff.
It sure was evident in the parish-level results tonight.

Much like the #KYGov race, the #LAGov runoff was decided by a few thousand votes.
Folks, anyone who tells you that your vote does not count is lying to you.
