Dems Shut Down Gov't, So Trump Makes Surprise Visit to US Troops in Iraq

With the democrats remaining obstructive in their fight over the current government shutdown, President Trump is remaining steadfast in his duty to the nation.

First the President eschewed what would have been a lengthy retreat at Mar-A-Lago in order to remain at the White House, hoping that the democrats would be willing to work through the holiday to end this silly and unnecessary government shutdown.  When it became clear that this wasn’t going to be the case, Trump made other, secret plans, that many of his detractors never believed he would.

He jumped on Air Force One and headed to Iraq to pay the troops a Christmas visit.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump made a surprise visit to Iraq on Wednesday — their first visit to a war zone since the sitting president took office nearly two years ago.

The White House said in a statement that the Trumps secretly traveled to Iraq yesterday evening, on Christmas, to wish service men and women a happy holiday.

Trump was in the country for more than two hours before the White House confirmed his whereabouts, a report in Bloomberg News indicated.

In a speech to the rank and file at Al Asad Airbase the president said he does not plan to withdrawal troops from Iraq and could use the site as the home base for future operations in the region.

The President was enthusiastic about the concept.

If we see something happening with ISIS that we don’t like, we can hit them so fast and so hard they really won’t know what the hell happened,’ the president said. ‘We’ve knocked them silly.’

Over the course of the last few weeks, the “resistance”-minded democrats have been hammering the President over what they believed was an unwillingness to visit the troops overseas.

It looks like they now have egg-nog on their face.
