There has been an incredible amount of conservation in America today about the political double standard expressed within the corporate media.
On one side of the argument, the democrats dwell, allowing for any sort of spinning or bending of the facts to behoove them thanks to the editorial and opinion-driven nature of the cable news networks. These entertainment outlets, whose narrative may or may not be loosely based on the work of actual journalists, have been pushing the rhetorical envelope for decades. Now, in the era of a President who is willing to stand up to them using their own tactics of bombastic bellowing, CNN and the others have been forced to mutate in a radical, caustic puddle of vitriol that serves only to poison the national outlook.
Don Lemon, one of the stars of CNN, recently made headlines after declaring that “white men” are the nation’s most salient terror threat…a racially charged and discriminatory statement that has drawn the ire of anyone with a lick of common sense and decency.
CNN has chosen to categorically ignore the comment.
Lemon said that, “we have to stop demonizing people and realize that the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.”
A CNN spokeswoman said Wednesday neither Lemon nor the network would speak more about it.
Lemon went on to double down on his statement Wednesday, defying the spin-lords at CNN with these remarks.
“Well, tonight I want to talk about some uncomfortable truths: the truth about who really carries out domestic terror attacks in this country,” Lemon began, before reminding viewers of his original remarks. “I said that the biggest terror threat in this country comes from radicals on the far right, primarily white men. That angered some people. But let’s put emotion aside and look at the cold hard facts. The evidence is overwhelming.”
There has been no response from CNN to this blatant refusal by Lemon to ignore the issue.
