Donald Trump ‘Must’ Testify Before Jan. 6th Committee, Says Dem Rep

Good luck with that!

There appears to be a great deal of uncertainty in Washington DC at the moment, particularly as it relates to the formation of a, (or perhaps multiple), committees to investigate the events of January 6th.

First, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell squashed the idea of forming a bipartisan commission to probe the attempted insurrection, fearing that the endeavor would devolve into an attempt to re-vilify Donald Trump over the mess, after the former President was acquitted during his second impeachment trial.

Then, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formed her own “select committee”, and allowed the Republicans to appoint a few of their folks to the affair.  Two of those appointments were quickly kiboshed by Pelosi, however, sparking outrage from the GOP – who subsequently pulled out of the entire committee altogether on account of it.

Republicans are now claiming that they’ll form their own probe, which brings this whole debacle to a new level of convolution as well.

Now, as if to up the ante on the insanity, Democratic Representative Ro Khanna says that former President Trump “must” testify before Congress, back over in the Pelosi-led investigation.

From a recent appearance on CNN:

Guest host Jim Acosta asked, “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accepted three of McCarthy’s picks for this committee. What does it tell you, and how do you respond from McCarthy pulling all of them?”

Khanna said, “It’s so unfortunate Speaker Pelosi has appointed a bipartisan commission with Liz Cheney on it. She wanted this to be bipartisan to get to the facts. Look I served with Representative Jim Jordan on the Oversight Committee. If Someone tried to take him off The Oversight Committee, I would say no. He has every right to be on the Oversight Committee. But you can’t have people who have said that there wasn’t an insurrection be on a committee to investigate an insurrection. It’s not personal. It’s factual.”

Then came the heavy stuff:

Acosta asked, “On the January 6 Committee, should they try to bring in former President Trump to testify?

Khanna replied, “Yes, I don’t see how you don’t! They should bring in every relevant person to the hearings. It should be bipartisan, it should be factual. But how can you say that President Trump, who was giving speeches encouraging people to go into the Capitol, isn’t a material witness?”

It is unknown just how much power the select committee is going to want to flex during the much-maligned investigation, and if there is any real way to compel Donald Trump to participate.

VIDEO: AOC’s Mask Hypocrisy Captured on Camera

What a phony!

Do as I say, not as I do. It has become the Democratic motto of late, with a vast number of liberal-leaning lawmakers eschewing their own advice, time and again, as it pertains to COVID-19 precautions. Former President Barack Obama was set to have nearly 700 guests over to his Martha’s Vineyard mansion for a birthday party in the coming days, before he was shamed into culling the guest list by media pressure. Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser attended an indoor wedding mask-less, despite pushing a mask mandate for businesses in the city. And now, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been caught faking it in terms of coronavirus safety. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., masked up for a photo op with activists on the steps of the U.S. Capitol — but only for the picture, a viral video shows. Ocasio-Cortez dropped her coronavirus mask after the snap Monday, when she posed with protesters in support of a new eviction moratorium. She was joined by fellow progressive Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. The congresswoman was maskless while sitting on the steps before the photo, but donned her gray mask before Markey sat down and the picture was snapped. “Housing is a human right,” the group said as the picture was taken, with someone after the photo saying “Everybody say ‘whiskey.’” The moment was captured on video. AOC has been highly efficient as it pertains to using social media to build her brand, but, should this go viral, it could make the limelight burn just a little bit hotter.

Beantown Mayor says Proof of Immunization is Akin to Slavery

Slavery, like The Holocaust, is not to be summoned into the conversation lightly.

No matter how strongly you may feel on a particular subject, and no matter how personally offended you might be by something, unless that thing is literally slavery, it’s best not to try to compare it to actual slavery. We get it:  Hyperbole sells.  Hyperbole keeps you in the headlines, and it gets your name on the lips of folks the nation over in a hurry. But slavery is far too immoral and corrupt and horrid a thing to go around using it willy-nilly to make political points. The mayor of Boston is learning this lesson the hard way this week. NewsCenter 5’s Sharman Sacchetti posed the question to Mayor Kim Janey Tuesday, after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that proof of COVID-19 vaccination will soon be required for entering restaurants, gyms and indoor venues. The new requirement, which will be phased in over several weeks in August and September, is the most aggressive step New York has taken yet to curb a surge in cases caused by the delta variant. People will have to show proof that they have had at least one dose of a vaccine. “The goal here is to convince everyone that this is the time,” de Blasio said. “If we’re going to stop the delta variant, the time is now. And that means getting vaccinated right now.” And then… She went on to compare vaccine passports or credentials to documentation requirements during slavery and the Jim Crow era. Janey also drew a comparison to the so-called birtherism conspiracy theory. “There’s a long history in this country of people needing to show their papers,” said Janey. “During slavery, post-slavery, as recent as you know what immigrant population has to go through here. We heard Trump with the birth certificate nonsense. Here we want to make…
