Duma Politician Offers US States Option to Join Russian Federation

For months now, the sheer absurdity of the hyperbole surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine has intensified immensely, leading our global community down a path that we hadn’t anticipated traveling any time soon.

From the moment that the Kremlin’s troops began their  campaign of genocide back in February, there have been concerns about just how far Vladimir Putin would take things – especially after it became clear that he was humiliating himself militarily.  Now just 8 months into the war, it feels almost inevitable that the Moscow madman is going to use nuclear weapons, if for no other reason than to selfishly cement his name in the history books.

But that’s not the only abjectly kooky geopolitical narrative that exists today, as we now have Russian diplomats suggesting that states within the American union could simply join Russia if they choose.

State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev was responding to an online poll that showed that some Americans wanted their states to break free from the U.S.

If Americans vote to secede some states from the country and express a desire to join Russia, Moscow will consider it, Tolmachev told Russian news site Podmoskovye Segodnya.

And that wasn’t all:

The lawmaker said that the U.S. was beginning “to decay,” and that its ally, the European Union, which has also provided strong military assistance to Ukraine, was “bursting at its seams.”

Tolmachev said this was a result of a failed American foreign policy. “Such initiatives are a signal that the citizens of the United States are dissatisfied with their leadership and are ready to take extreme measures, up to secession, if the current policy of America continues,” he said.

Of course, this a similar tactic to what’s being used in Ukraine to “annex” regions who’ve been subjected to sham referendums regarding their desire to join Russia.
