Facebook Removes Elizabeth Warren’s Anti-Facebook Ads

Warren and her supporters were, of course, outraged.

Facebook has taken criticism for deleting some anti-Facebook posts that Senator Elizabeth Warren posted. This is what happens when a corporation is in charge of free speech, folks.

I am no supporter of the socialist fake Indian from Massachusetts, granted,  but come on, Facebook. Isn’t it just a bit precious that Facebook deleted the posts that criticize Facebook posted by a sitting U.S. Senator?

On Monday, Facebook admitted that it deleted several ads that Warren’s presidential campaign posted calling for a breakup of several tech giants including Facebook.

You may not agree with Warren’s idea to break up Facebook, but she is an elected official who is embarking on an official campaign for president and she advanced a serious political idea that many people support, even it it is a bad one.

The ads directed Warren supporters to a petition on Warren’s campaign website extolling a policy of supporting “our plan to break up these big tech companies.”

As Politico reported last night:

The ads, which had identical images and text, touted Warren’s recently announced plan to unwind “anti-competitive” tech mergers, including Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp and Instagram.

“Three companies have vast power over our economy and our democracy. Facebook, Amazon, and Google,” read the ads, which Warren’s campaign had placed Friday. “We all use them. But in their rise to power, they’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor.”

Facebook claimed that “This ad was taken down because it goes against Facebook’s advertising policies.”

The social media giant later said that the ads violated their “use of corporate logos” rule.

After the outrage was kicked up, though, Facebook reversed course and said it intended to restore the ads.

Folks, this really is pretty outrageous. We are in an era where our chief modes of communication is the Internet and social media, but if these tech giants can shut down even legitimate political discourse because they don’t feel it serves their financial (or ideological) interests, then we have entered an era where the First Amendment really is moot.

It used to be that only government could effectively quash free speech. However, we are in a different age, one that breaks the mold of the past.

It is hard for a free trade conservative to figure this one, granted. On one hand, a common feeling would be that Facebook is a private company that can do whatever it wants to do. However, with the stranglehold Facebook, Google, Twitter and Instagram have on public discourse, something has to be done to prevent them from shutting down political discourse.

After all, free political speech was exactly the sort of speech that the founding fathers wanted to insure. It is a founding principle and a chief Constitutional right.

Dems Demand Bolton Testify After Book Allegedly Says Trump Withheld Ukraine Aid (Details)

‘Allegedly’ is the keyword…

John Salvatore

Democrats really, really, really want to see former NSA John Bolton testify before Congress. They believe he knows something about President Trump and Ukraine that the administration is hiding. This is a long shot. First of all, if Bolton knew something it would’ve been leaked to a reporter by now. Secondly, as you’ll see in the Twitter thread below, Bolton’s lawyer has no clue what Dems are talking about. From MSN via NYT: President Trump told his national security adviser in August that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by the former adviser, John R. Bolton. The president’s statement as described by Mr. Bolton could undercut a key element of his impeachment defense: that the holdup in aid was separate from Mr. Trump’s requests that Ukraine announce investigations into his perceived enemies, including former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son Hunter Biden, who had worked for a Ukrainian energy firm while his father was in office. Check this out… H/T: Twitchy

Rashida Tlaib Retweets Story About Israelis Killing Palestinian Boy, But It Never Happened

The definition of ‘fake news’…

John Salvatore

Rashida Tlaib hasn’t exactly been shy about how much she dislikes the nation of Israel. It’s quite stunning to see coming a member of Congress, if you think about. But because Rashida is a Democrat, it’s fine. The mainstream media will give her a pass for hating Israel because she’s a woman and she’s Muslim. Obviously, that doesn’t make it right. Yet, having a “D” at the end of your name can do wonderful things for a person’s career. Here’s what she retweeted: Reactions: During a speech in Miami, President Trump called out “the squad” in a way that not many people in the public eye ever have. And the way he did it is the exact reason he defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016, and, GOD-willing, why he’ll be re-elected this coming November. WATCH: TRUMP: “These people hate Israel — they hate Jewish people. I won’t name them. I won’t bring up the name of Omar, Tlaib, AOC — I won’t bring that name up. Won’t bring it up.” From The Hill: Trump sparked outrage on Capitol Hill in August when he said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should block Tlaib and Omar from visiting the country. Israel later did so, despite earlier vows by officials to welcome any members of Congress to the country. […] Omar in particular has raised eyebrows with her comments about Israel, suggesting that powerful Jews inside and outside of Congress are pushing “allegiance to a foreign country” over their support for the state.
