FISA “Cover Your Behind” Maneuver By FBI/DOJ Flies Directly in the Face of the President

This is not okay.

The rarity of electing a man such as Donald Trump to the White House cannot be understated.

We are talking about a populist, Citizen President, who very clearly understands that this is a nation of people, not a nation of ruling class Congressmen and women who lord over us from their lobbyist-purchased penthouses, or sneer at us from their cushy, special-interest side gigs.

No, Donald Trump is different, and he has undoubtedly irked those who have been suckling at the government teat over the course of the last several decades.

For example, from the President’s first State of the Union address:

But above all else, they are Americans.  And this Capitol, this city, and this Nation, belong to them.

Our task is to respect them, to listen to them, to serve them, to protect them, and to always be worthy of them.

Americans fill the world with art and music.  They push the bounds of science and discovery.  And they forever remind us of what we should never forget:  The people dreamed this country. The people built this country.  And it is the people who are making America great again.

As long as we are proud of who we are, and what we are fighting for, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

As long as we have confidence in our values, faith in our citizens, and trust in our God, we will not fail.

Congress, apparently didn’t care for that, hence the increase in “resistance” activity over the course of the last 8 months.

Now, after the President has ordered the declassification of several internal documents from the FBI and DOJ, those organizations are pulling a “CYA”, or “cover your behind” maneuver that directly flies in the face of the President’s command.

President Donald Trump has demanded the “immediate declassification” of sensitive materials about the Russia investigation, but the agencies responsible are expected to propose redactions that would keep some information secret, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The Justice Department, FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence are going through a methodical review and can’t offer a timeline for finishing, said the people, who weren’t authorized to speak publicly about the sensitive matter.

The White House issued a statement on Monday listing material that Trump wants declassified immediately, echoing demands of Republican lawmakers who share his contention that the continuing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was tainted by anti-Trump bias well before Robert Mueller was named special counsel to run it.

Among Trump’s demands was the full public release of all text messages concerning the Russia probe by Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and by several former officials, including two who were fired — former FBI Director James Comey and his deputy, Andrew McCabe. One person described the order to release text messages as unprecedented, and another said additional talks will probably be held with the White House over the matter.

This is not okay.

These redactions only serve to prove that the President was right:  The American people, whom this nation belongs to, will be absolutely livid with what they will find in these documents.

In this age of American enlightenment, and in the coming information revolution, the FBI may cease to exist…and they will only have themselves to blame.
