FLASHBACK: James Clapper Says Obama Ordered Trump-Russia Spy Operation (Watch)
Now that the Mueller report has vindicated President Trump and revealed zero collusion with Russia, Democrats don’t know what to do with themselves.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who worked in the Obama administration, is now saying that Barack ordered the Trump-Russia spying operation.
That’s kind of a big deal.
Here’s the scoop…
ANDERSON COOPER, CNN HOST: The 2017 assessment that the President says he now agrees with, that was done while you and then NCI Director John Brennan were still in office. So, how can we reconcile the President attacking you, but apparently after a very long time finally, allegedly saying — or saying he allegedly agrees with the product of the intelligence community that you, yourself oversaw?
JAMES CLAPPER: Yes, well, this is — yes, as we’ve come to know the President, he is not a stalwart for a consistency or coherence. So it’s very hard to explain that. One point I’d like to make, Anderson, that I don’t think has come up very much before, and I’m alluding now to the President’s criticism of President Obama for all that he did or didn’t do before he left office with respect to the Russian meddling. If it weren’t for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller’s investigation.
WATCH:
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is as anti-Trump as they come.
Day after day she’s wasted her time, and that of her viewers, talking about President Trump and alleged Russia collusion during the 2016 campaign.
After Special Counsel Robert Mueller handed in his final report to Attorney General William Barr, vindicating Trump and team, Maddow lost it.
She apparently appeared to cry on TV after word broke that Mueller found jack squat.
Now, Maddow gets even worse news.
People are not tuning in to her program anymore.
…(BOLD MINE)…
Within MSNBC, there’s an acknowledgement that the Trump-Russia narrative on which the cable network—and especially its primetime star Maddow—built monster ratings has fizzled for the moment.
Insiders also claim not to be surprised that the conclusion of the long-awaited Mueller report—or at least the Trump-appointed attorney general’s summary—was a whimper, not a bang for an outlet that has invested so much time and energy, in primetime and throughout its dayparts, in the notion that Trump is unworthy of the Oval Office and might at some point be forced to give it up.
And it’s also possible that the Mueller disappointment drove loyal viewers away in much the same way that people avoid looking at their 401(k)s when the stock market is down. Maddow, who has consistently vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program, was sixth on Monday evening, down almost 500,000 total viewers from the previous Monday, as was MSNBC’s second top-rated program in primetime, The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell.
A 500,000 viewer drop? That sounds like it’s panic time, doesn’t it?
Maddow is seemingly everything wrong with America.
She doesn’t understand what makes the United States great, and she’s ignorant when it comes to learning her history.
