Gabby Petito's Cause of Death Revealed, Laundrie Lawyer Reacts

The latest chapter in the Gabby Petito saga has now been written, as a coroner has now revealed the young woman’s cause of death.

Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, were on a cross-country road trip in August when she went missing – unbeknownst to her family until Brian returned home to Florida in Petito’s van, without Petito.

Since that time, Brian and his parents have refused to cooperate with police who were searching for Petito, leading many to wonder if Laundrie was hiding something.  Then, when Brian went missing, (and subsequently became a fugitive), many around the nation began to openly suspect that something fishy was going on.

Petito’s body was found just days after Brian disappeared, and now a coroner has revealed what caused her demise.

Gabby Petito died from strangulation, Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue revealed during a Tuesday news briefing, weeks after the FBI uncovered her remains at Bridger-Teton National Forest north of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Blue gave the manner of death last month as homicide. Brian Laundrie, her former fiance and the only person of interest publicly identified in connection with her death, hasn’t been seen since Sept. 13 and is the subject of a federal warrant for alleged bank card fraud.

The 22-year-old Petito’s remains were out in the Wyoming wilderness for three to four weeks, Brent said, without going into detail about the potential impact that had on the autopsy.

Wyoming law prevents the coroner from releasing any other information at this time.

Brian Laundrie remains on the lam this week, with investigators continuing to scour the vast Carlton Reserve near his family home, believing that Brian may be hiding out in the wilderness there.

Laundrie’s lawyer used the moment to remind the nation that Brian is only a person of interest in Petito’s homicide, having only been charged thus far with bank fraud for using her credit card posthumously.
