GOP Making Unprecedented Move Toward Gun Control In Decades Following Outbreak Of Mass Shootings

This is disappointing.

This past weekend saw two, not one, but two, awful mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio respectively, and as you can imagine, in the wake of these tragedies there has been an outpouring of cries for the government to enact strict gun control that will infringe on the rights of law-abiding gun owners across America.

Normally, this is an issue that Republicans stand against, but for some reason, many folks in the GOP are moving toward gun control in unprecedented ways, no doubt disappointing voters in the process.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire:

Following Trump’s speech, the Times’ Sheryl Gay Stolberg reported that Republicans are “coalescing around legislation to help law enforcement take guns from those who pose an imminent danger.” As examples of the increased unification on the issue, Stolberg cites multiple Republicans expressing support, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has proposed federal grants to help enact state red flag laws, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who expressed confidence Tuesday that Congress “will be able to find common ground on the so-called red flag issue,” and Rep. Michael R. Turner (R-OH), who pledged to support not only a red flag law but a “military-style” weapons ban and magazine limit.

As The Daily Wire reported Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appointed a three-person committee Tuesday to look into potential bipartisan solutions reflecting Trump’s priorities. “I asked them to reflect on the subjects the president raised within their jurisdictions and encouraged them to engage in bipartisan discussions of potential solutions to help protect communities without infringing on Americans’ constitutional rights,” McConnell said in a statement Tuesday.

“Red flag legislation also appears poised to move in the House,” Stolberg reports. “The Judiciary Committee was consulting with its members on Tuesday about whether to briefly return to Washington from a six-week recess to advance a red flag bill and other gun-related legislation, according to an aide to the committee.”

No matter what folks on either side of the aisle think, gun control laws are not going to solve the problem. Guns are banned in Chicago and that hasn’t done anything to curb the massive acts of violence carried out there on a daily basis.

Instead, it’s created a massive number of potential victims out fo the law-abiding individuals who live there. This is exactly what’s going to happen across the country when more gun control is put in place.

You can’t stop the evil in men’s heart with laws. If we could, then the fact murder is already illegal would be enough to stop these shootings. But it’s not. We need to change hearts and minds and that’s only going to happen through the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who truly has the power to change lives.

Ted Cruz Goes Completely Savage On NYT After Paper Commits To Covering Trump As ‘Racist’

Cruz throwin’ bows!

Last week a transcript leaked of a speech by New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet as published by Slate, and part of that transcript featured Baquet admitting that since the Russia collusion stuff fell apart, they’re planning on publishing stories that claim President Trump is a racist for the rest of his presidency. This did not at all sit well with Sen. Ted Cruz who went total savage on the publication and shredded them to tiny bits over their obvious journalistic bias and abandonment of principles of integrity in their reporting. via Daily Wire: “There was a time when journalists covered ‘news.’ The NYT has given up on even pretending anymore. Today, they are Pravda, a propaganda outlet by liberals, for liberals. These remarks at their ‘town hall’ are a scandal & would be a firing offense at any real journalistic outlet,” Cruz tweeted in reference to Baquet’s remarks. Cruz then paraphrased Baquet’s remarks: “The Editor says (in effect) ‘for 2 yrs, we covered ‘Russia, Russia, Russia,’ facts be damned; now we’ll scream ‘racism, racism, racism’ for 18 mos, and the rest of the media follow us.’ That’s not journalism.” CNBC reporter John Harwood criticized Cruz’s tweet by claiming “that’s not what the editor said.” In reality, Cruz’s paraphrase is close to what Baquet said. The Times editor said that they covered the alleged Russia collusion story the way they did because they thought it looked “a certain way.” From the transcript: Chapter 1 of the story of Donald Trump, not only for our newsroom but, frankly, for our readers, was: Did Donald Trump have untoward relationships with the Russians, and was there obstruction of justice? That was a really hard story, by the way, let’s not forget that. We set ourselves up to cover that story. I’m…

PHOTOS: Democrat Lawmaker Simulates Assassination of Trump During Political Fundraiser

Imagine if the roles were reversed.

John Salvatore

Why are Democrats still allowed to say they accept everyone? Even they know that that isn’t true. Unless you agree with the far-left 100% of the time, you’re not welcome to so much as give an opinion. Check out a Democrat state lawmaker simulating the assassination of President Trump during a recent fundraiser. Replace “Democrat” with Republican and “Trump” with Obama and imagine the outrage. A political fundraiser for @SenatorSandoval simulates an assassination attempt against a mock @realDonaldTrump decked out in Mexican garb. Looks like a man pointed a fake assault weapon at the fake President to pose for a picture. Reactions: Now @DemsforIllinois responds: “The tragedies in El Paso and Gilroy have demonstrated how hate-filled political rhetoric can fuel violence. These images are unacceptable and dangerous. The place to make our voices heard against Trump is at the ballot box.” From @GovPritzker: “As our nation grapples with the epidemic of gun violence, purposely pointing a fake gun at anyone is insensitive and wrong. I condemn actions like the ones displayed in the pictures because they lack the civility our politics demands.” The guy later apologized… Response from @SenatorSandoval: “The incident that took place is unacceptable. I don’t condone violence toward the President or anyone else. I apologize that something like this happened at my event.” Sandoval wants to double the gas tax in Illinois. In other words, Dandoval is a good Democrat. From Fox2Now: Illinois lawmakers want to jack up the gasoline tax. Legislation has been introduced in Springfield that would double the tax and use the revenue for major road and bridge improvements across the state. Lawmakers are trying to find ways to pay for badly needed infrastructure improvements. State Senators Don DeWitte (R-33rd District) and Martin Sandoval (D-11th District) want to more than…
