Hackers Reveal Horror of China's Uyghur Genocide: 'Kill Them All'

China has long showed little interest in human rights, and it appears as though not much has changed in the dawning of the 21st century.

To be fair, there aren’t likely too many authoritarian communists out there with a soft spot for the lives of the people they rule over; that’s just the way that it is within this sort of government.  But in China, the horror has been exacerbated first by the nation’s exploitation of the workforce for the sake of dominating the world’s manufacturing space.  This means sweat shops, dangerous non-regulation, and abysmal wages.  (It is still communism, after all).

But then there is another, worse indicator of China’s human rights issue:  The ongoing genocide they are committing against Uyghur Muslims.

A recent hack and leak exposed just how horrible the issue is.

The U.K. and Germany condemned China and called for investigations after leaked documents revealed more details of China’s ongoing genocide against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang on Tuesday.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has long claimed its “re-education camps” are voluntary and work only to stamp out extremism, but the leaked documents and photos show the camps are far from voluntary. The text of one 2017 speech from a high-level CCP official revealed a shoot-to-kill order for anyone attempting escape, according to a public database of the documents published by the Victims of Communist Memorial Foundation (VOC).

The dehumanizing language used by officials there was horrid.

“If we all fulfill our duty, Xinjiang will be stabilized,” former Xinjiang secretary Chen Quanguo said in a 2017 speech, according to a translated copy provided by VOC. “If they run, just kill them. There will be no problem, because we have already authorized this a long time ago,”

The hack has only amplified the evidence of China’s inhumane treatment of the Uyghur population, and bolstered calls for international action on their behalf.
