Illegal Immigrants Pretend to Be Father and Daughter at Southern Border

You’ve got to wonder what the word is along the chain of coyotes and would-be illegal migrants down South. Despite all the supposed horror of the Trump administration’s border policies, there are still people pretending to be minors’ parents just to get across.

What gives?

One particularly ambitious pair, a man and woman from Honduras seem to have had quite a bit of faith in the border patrol’s willingness to believe anything, based on this story from The Daily Wire:

On Wednesday, agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Centralized Processing Center in Texas discovered an adult man and woman pretending to be a father and daughter and utilizing a fake birth certificate. The man, from Honduras, said the young woman with him was his 17-year-old daughter.

But the woman admitted during the interview that she was 18, not the man’s daughter, but a friend, and the birth certificate was fake.

This is, as we have learned, not uncommon. One of the big reasons it was actually practical to separate children from the adults they crossed the border with was because often, adults and the minors they cross with aren’t even related.

It seems that our border policies have created an environment in which immigrants are all to comfortable trying to deceive our agents and complicate the system even more.

The sad thing is, despite the number of Central Americans who are willing to trek across the region below our border and risk detainment while crossing it, they are the ones who expose themselves to the biggest risk, as one border agent warns.

“The journey from Central America is very dangerous and is controlled by the criminal element. We urge Hondurans and Central Americans to not risk their own life, or their child’s lives, attempting to make entry into the United States,” Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. says, according to the Daily Wire.

We clearly have a mess on our hands at the Southern border, and no matter how many times the left cries “racist!” it’s undeniable that fixing our policies and ending our tolerant policies will be good for everyone involved, most particularly the migrants themselves.
