James Carville Says Mar-a-Lago Raid is Just 'First Inning'

As if the nation wasn’t already incensed enough about the unprecedented FBI raid on Donald Trump’s estate at Mar-a-Lago, one Democratic strategist is now threatening a great deal more targeting of the presumptive GOP nominee for 2024.

The raid, which the former President has repeatedly decried as a political stunt meant to harm his electoral future, infuriated Americans.  They saw the event as a bold overreach of the current administration, and they feared what it could mean for our already-fraught political divisions.

The Rajun Cajun James Carville appears to now be suggesting that we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Democratic strategist James Carville has a message for people who are doubting Merrick Garland: Just wait.

“People are like, well, but let’s wait and see a little bit. And this is like the top of the first inning. I mean, remember Merrick Garland is like a pit viper. He prosecuted the Oklahoma City bomber case, the Unabomber case, the Olympic bomber case. And I think these guys are really methodical,” Carville says on this episode of The New Abnormal politics podcast.

Carville then made a rather bold assumption.

“Their defenses are just literally absurd. I mean, absurd. Like ‘he can declassify anything he wants,’ says Carville. Plus, “you ask ‘Why did Trump want all these documents?’ And the answer is the most logical reason: He was gonna sell them.”

Donald Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in the matter, and he has not been charged with any crime.
