White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is one heck of a firecracker. And given how often she’s already managed to put the press in their places when it comes to how they cover President Trump, it’s quite clear that she belongs in the Trump administration.

McEnany recently ripped into cable news outlets over their coverage of hydroxychloroquine after the president revealed that he’s been taking the medicine as a preventive measures against the coronavirus ravaging the country.

Trump has been a big supporter of this particular medicine, even at a time when there was little data to conclude that it was actually helpful for patients suffering with this horrendous illness. Despite the fact that there is still some resistance to the promotion of the drug by medical experts working with the White House, the president announced on Monday that he was taking it.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner:

Following the president’s revelation, many cable news outlets, Fox News included, ran segments cautioning viewers about the potential dangers of the drug. McEnany ridiculed the ensuing covering and provided additional information on Trump’s announcement during a Tuesday interview on Fox & Friends.

“The president just wanted to be transparent about his personal health decision that he made in consultation with his doctor, and one of the things that I really want to get out there this morning, that unfortunately there’s a lot of misinformation about is, you know, first, let me emphasize strongly that any use of hydroxychloroquine has to be in consultation with your doctor,” she began.

“Some of the misreporting on other networks, these apoplectic analyses of hydroxychloroquine, ignore the fact that tens of millions of people around the world have used this drug for other purposes, including some people in my communications office who used it for malaria prophylaxis before traveling to other parts of the world,” McEnany said.

McEnany declined to speak on whether or not the president’s decision to start taking hydroxychloroquine had anything to do with two White House staffers testing positive for COVID-19. The White House physician stated that he and the president agreed that the benefits of taking the medication outweighed the relative risks.

McEnany is exactly the type of press secretary the president needs right now, as the onslaught from the mainstream media continues unabated during the coronavirus outbreak. She’s clearly a warrior who is not at all afraid to stand up for the truth and will defend the president from the myriad of attacks he gets on a daily basis from left-wing propagandists in the mainstream media.
