On Tuesday, the anti-Trump comedian tweeted what seemed like a threat of domestic violence if Democrats don’t prevail in the midterms. “If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican,” she wrote.
Of course, we should all be reminded that Griffin went off the deep end as Donald Trump ascended to the presidency, and was briefly blackballed in Hollywood after participating in a photoshoot in which she was seen holding a photorealistic mockup of Donald Trump’s severed head.
Just days later, a former Bernie Sanders campaign worker took aim at the Republican Party’s congressional baseball team as they practiced for a charity event, officially kicking off this new era of American political violence.
