When historians look back at the presidency of Joe Biden, the distinguishing characteristic of his administration will likely be a stunning lack of enthusiasm.
Biden himself appeared reluctant to run, of course, having found himself in the race only after being goaded by Mitt Romney of all people.
In office, he’s been reluctant to lead as well, content to watch his agenda fizzle out at every conceivable opportunity. And, to make things worse, this attitude appears to roll downhill, with Vice President Kamala Harris having waited 90 days to visit the southern border after being appointed “Border Czar” by Biden himself.
Now, almost comically, Harris is suggesting that the border itself is secure.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press”, Harris acknowledged the immigration system “still needs to be fixed” before pinning the blame on the Trump administration for the border surge that has happened since President Biden took office.Trending:
“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” Harris told host Chuck Todd in Houston.
The veep, who was put in charge of border issues by Biden 18 months ago, doubled down when Todd questioned her claim, given the streams of migrants flooding into the country every month.
Harris appeared to be somewhat delusional about the situation.
“We’re going to have 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border’s secure?” Todd asked.
“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris insisted. “But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years.
Refuting Harris’ statement are the facts, as a record number of migrants continue to stream across the southern border, and states like Texas have taken to busing these migrants to liberal cities to help prove a point.
