Lindsey Graham Reaches Out to Mueller as Barr Testimony Tizzy Continues
Despite enduring several weeks of grueling examination, the Mueller report seems to still possess its metaphorical legs, and will be running up and downs the teleprompters of the mainstream media for some time to come.
Further muddying the waters was a bout of contentious testimony from Attorney General Bill Barr, half of which the top cop in the country simply skipped…a decision that could very well lead to Congress voting to find him in contempt.
With the special counsel and Barr seemingly at odds over the true meaning of the report, focus has now turned back to Robert Mueller himself, as the democrats continue to negotiate his coming testimony.
It seems as though Republican Congressman Lindsey Graham has had similar thoughts.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., sent a letter to Special Counsel Robert Mueller Friday asking him if he wanted to “provide testimony regarding any misrepresentation” by Attorney General William Barr concerning a phone call the two had about the findings of his Russia investigation.
Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, thanked Mueller and his team “for the professional and thorough manner in which you conducted your investigation.”
At the center of the issue are two attempts by Robert Mueller to contact Barr and address concerns about Barr’s possible misrepresentation of the findings. Barr’s story when speaking in front of Congress is far different than Mueller’s account, causing some concern among Americans.
Graham wrote, “In response to questions by Senator Blumenthal, the Attorney General testified in essence that you told him in a phone call that you did not challenge the accuracy of the Attorney General’s summary of your report’s principal conclusions, but rather you wanted more of the report, particularly the executive summaries concerning obstruction of justice, to be released promptly. In particular, Attorney General Barr testified that you believed media coverage of your investigation was unfair without the public release of those summaries.”
He concluded his letter asking Mueller if he would “like to provide testimony regarding any misrepresentation by the Attorney General of the substance of that phone call.”
The only thing that we know for certain is that the American people deserve the whole truth, and Lindsey Graham understands this.
