Major GOP Figure Ready to Challenge Trump in 2024...'In a Heartbeat'
Donald Trump has not yet revealed whether or not he’ll be running for President in 2024, (wink, wink), but he sure has made plenty of hints about it.
Trump isn’t the sort of man to walk away from unfinished business, and for many within the MAGA Movement, there is plenty left for The Don to accomplish in Washington. But, will anyone notable be standing in his way? Can the Democrats even muster an opponent worthy of taking him on in 2024? Because Joe Biden certainly does not appear to be that candidate.
Or, what if a notable member of the GOP took a shot at him?
Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday argued he is particularly well-positioned to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, citing his second-place finish behind then-candidate Donald Trump in the party’s 2016 primary.
The remarks from Cruz (R-Texas) came in an interview with The Truth Gazette, a conservative news service operated by 15-year-old Brilyn Hollyhand. Asked by Hollyhand whether he would consider launching another bid for the White House, Cruz responded: “Absolutely. In a heartbeat.”
Cruz appeared to have given this a lot of thought.
“You know, I ran in 2016. It was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. We had a very crowded field. We had 17 candidates in the race — a very strong field. And I ended up placing second” Cruz said.

As of this writing, former President Trump has not responded to these statements by Cruz. But, knowing what we know about Trump, a response is likely inevitable.
