Michael Cohen Drops Weird Warning for Americans as He Heads to Jail
President Trump’s former “fixer” attorney is headed to jail today.
Michael Cohen, the now-disbarred litigator at the center of the Stormy Daniels scandal, will begin a three year prison sentence in Upstate New York this week. The Otisville Penitentiary where he will be staying has been described by some as “cushy”, but at least one previous case manager there has some concerns over Cohen’s safety.
In the weeks preceding Cohen’s introduction to incarceration, the former attorney made several attempts to tell more of “his story”, but, predictably, under the caveat that it would help to reduce his sentence – a punishment for his lies to Congress, ironically.
Now, as the time is nigh, Cohen has one last, vague parting shot for the President and the nation.
Cohen faces a 2 p.m. deadline to report to the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville, a federal prison in the countryside 70 miles (113 kilometers) northwest of New York City. A minimum-security prison camp there has become a haven for white-collar criminals.
“There still remains much to be told and I look forward to the day when I can share the truth,” Cohen told a crush of media outside his New York City apartment, before getting into a waiting Cadillac Escalade SUV shortly before 10 a.m.
Then Cohen made an unmistakable jab in the direction of his former boss.
In a shot at Trump, he said he hoped when he is released, “the country will be in a place without xenophobia, injustice and lies at the helm.”
Cohen has been called a “rat” by the President, after his decision to cooperate with lawmakers regarding so-called “hush money” payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The Daniels saga conspicuously arrived on the national news scene just days before the actress was set to embark on an exotic dancing tour entitled “Make American Horny Again”.
