Migrant Caravan Members Planning "Human Stampede" To Irk Trump
For months, the United States has been wrestling with how best to handle a massive horde of Central American migrants caravanning north through Mexico.
The group, which at one point was estimated to be 14,000 strong, is being to amass themselves in Tijuana, on the border between Mexico and California. In the popular tourist town, the migrants haven’t exactly found safe harbor however, with Mexican nationals strongly rebuking the group. A number of violent crimes have been reported among the caravaners, with those responsible having been deported by the Mexican government.
Furthermore, the people of Tijuana themselves have not been entirely thrilled with the group, protesting against the stalled migrants.
Now, as tensions rise in the border town, a number of migrants are possibly planning a radical maneuver that would force the United States to take action.
Some members of the migrant caravan, who have spent the past month traveling from Central America through Mexico to reach the U.S. border, are talking about crossing the border en masse as a way to provoke the Trump administration, an aid group has claimed.
“They have that intention,” Sergio Tamai, a founder of Angels without Borders, a group helping the migrants, told Telemundo 20 in San Diego. “I believe that thousands could make that jump.”
