Mitch Jumps On Board with Bipartisan Gun Control Framework

Something is “different” this time, at least according to the politicians attempting to ride the coattails of tragedy into action and the mainstream media who’s cheerleading them at the moment.

The massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas was a gruesome and horrid affair, reminding our nation of the evils that lurk within her borders.  In its aftermath, a vast number of progressive politicians began pushing, unsurprisingly, for stricter gun control measures, as the left appears unable to grasp the idea that this may very well be a mental health issue first and foremost.

But, as the media keeps telling us how “different” things are “this time”, Congress is being compelled to act.  And that includes Mitch McConnell.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday announced he supports a bipartisan framework on gun safety and will likely vote for legislation that reflects it.

“For myself, I’m comfortable with the framework and if the legislation ends up reflecting what the framework indicates, I’ll be supportive,” McConnell told reporters after the weekly Senate GOP conference lunch.

There is little chance that the bill will be stopped by procedure alone.

McConnell is the 11th Republican to signal support for the bipartisan framework, meaning that legislation based on its principles will likely have enough votes to overcome a filibuster.

McConnell’s endorsement could still move the needle with other Republicans, given the vast influence that the Bluegrass State Senator wields over other members of the GOP.
