Montgomery County Police Explain Why They Will Not Be Investigating Kavanaugh’s Alleged Crime From 1982

Yesterday, President Trump agreed to an FBI probe into the accusations made against Jude Brett Kavanaugh from over 30 years ago.

This is what Dr. Christine Ford, the first woman to make the accusations, has been calling for since she first came public, which seems to serve little purpose other than to stall the vote on whether or not to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

While Congressional Democrats love this idea, those on the right can’t stop pointing out that a) Dr. Ford’s allegations are a state, not federal crime, and b) Kavanaugh has already passed an extensive FBI background check six separate times.

Perhaps that is why Trump and the Republicans are willing to play ball for less than a week and just let them have the dang investigation.

As for local police, whose involvement in this matter has been conspicuously absent, they explained this week why they won’t be investigating.

The reason is simple: Ford hasn’t asked them too.

The Daily Caller reports:

The police department that has jurisdiction over the area where Christine Blasey Ford claims Judge Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her says it has not opened an investigation into the matter because Ford has not requested one, among other reasons.

The Montgomery County Police Department says it stands by its “victim-centered” approach to launching investigations, despite Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s call Thursday for a full investigation of Ford’s allegations and a Wednesday letter from 11 Democratic Maryland state lawmakers with a similar request.

A police department statement in effect as of Thursday explains its position, reported The Washington Post.

“At this time, the Montgomery County Police Department has not received a request by any alleged victim nor a victim’s attorney to initiate a police report or a criminal investigation regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The department recognizes that victims of sexual assault may not want to involve law enforcement and/or initiate a criminal investigation, and we respect that position. The department, however, stands prepared to assist anyone who reports being the victim of a sexual assault.”

Christine Ford hasn’t asked local police to investigate.

Christine Ford hasn’t called for Kavanaugh to be removed from his current seat on the DC district court.

Christine Ford hasn’t presented any compelling evidence to support her claims at all.

All Christine Ford has managed to do is give the Democrats a reason to delay the hearing.

Period.
