NATO Official Suggest Putin Nuke Strike Would Trigger 'Military Response'

Vladimir Putin has clearly been using threats regarding his nuclear arsenal to keep the western world from involving themselves in the Ukraine conflict, but that tactic may have a very short half-life.

Putin, who has been clearly failing in his invasion of Ukraine, has grown ever more desperate and bellicose in recent weeks, having made a series of escalating suggestions regarding the potential for a nuclear strike.  The Russian military has even begun to mobilize key parts of its nuclear arsenal, including a submarine believed to be capable of creating radioactive tsunamis that could reshape coastlines.

But there’s a catch-22 for the Kremlin:  Any use of nuclear weapons is almost sure to get the western world involved, and NATO might not be far behind.

Any nuclear weapons attack by Russia in its war with Ukraine would “almost certainly” trigger a military response from the eastern European country’s friends, a senior official from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization reportedly said on Wednesday, possibly referencing countries like the US, among others.

There would be “unprecedented consequences” should Russian President Vladimir Putin turn to nuclear weapons, the unnamed NATO official said, according to Reuters.

Then came the inklings of World War III.

A Russian nuclear attack would “almost certainly be drawing a physical response from many allies, and potentially from NATO itself,” the official warned.

NATO’s involvement in the conflict would almost surely trigger the onset of World War III – something that many geopolitical experts are already beginning to sweat about.
