No Vacation Until You're Vaccinated, Says CDC

Labor Day is one of the most guilt-free holidays of the whole year, and it serves as our last real chance to get out and enjoy some of the nicer weather our nation has to offer.

Sure, there’s the long weekend of Memorial Day, and also the 4th of July, but each of those designated days come with their own sort of reflective, selfless bend.  With Labor Day, it’s all about celebrating the worker, (you), by relaxing.

And, given that the dog days of summer are coming to an end as Labor Day arrives, there are a great many of us who are about to speed away to some sandy, sunny destination.

If you’re unvaccinated, however, the CDC says to stay home.

CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky advised unvaccinated people against traveling over the upcoming Labor Day weekend as the U.S. battles back a surge in Covid-19 hospitalizations caused by the highly contagious delta variant.

“Given where we are with disease transmission right now, we would say that people need to take their own these risks into their own consideration as they think about traveling,” Walensky said during a White House Covid briefing Tuesday, noting that people who are fully vaccinated and wear masks can travel. “If you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling.”

This, of course, will fuel further speculation about the coming treatment of those who’ve exerted their medical freedom in choosing not to be vaccinated, and whether or not there will be more discrimination for them over the horizon.
