North Korea's Latest Nuclear 'Goal' is Both Laughable and Terrifying

The hermit kingdom of North Korea is a bit of an anomaly in the modern global situation, and has been for some time.

The dynastic rulers of the DPRK have long abused and tormented their citizens with subpar living conditions, horrid human rights abuses, and threats of worse, all while the “supreme” leadership continues to grow fat on the profits stolen from the workforce.

Then, in order to remain relevant on the international stage, (and offset the massive sanctions they face for being such abhorrent leaders), the Kim family has repeatedly threatened the world with ICBM’s, hypersonic missiles, and nuclear weapons…albeit without a great deal of efficiency.

Now, almost laughably, North Korea has stated a new nuclear goal.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country’s ultimate goal is to possess the world’s most powerful nuclear force, as he promoted dozens of military officers involved in the recent launch of North Korea’s largest ballistic missile, state media reported on Sunday.

The announcement comes after Kim inspected a test of the country’s new Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), and pledged to counter U.S. nuclear threats with nuclear weapons on Nov. 18.

Building the nuclear force is for reliably protecting the dignity and sovereignty of the state and the people, and “its ultimate goal is to possess the world’s most powerful strategic force, the absolute force unprecedented in the century,” Kim said in the order promoting the officers.

And then:

He called the Hwasong-17 the “world’s strongest strategic weapon” and said it demonstrated North Korea’s resolve and ability to eventually build the world’s strongest army.

The idea that Kim could even get within a few thousands warheads from being the world’s top nuclear power is an absolute impossibility, making this latest hot air from Pyongyang little more than bloviated posturing.
