Obama's Twitter Takes Massive Hit, Loses 2 Million Followers. Here's The Reason Why
Former President Barack Obama’s Twitter account took a huge hit this week, losing over two million followers. Before you get too excited, thinking his popularity is waning now that he’s not in office and that folks are somehow waking up to the idiocy of leftism, here’s the real reason he lost so many.
They were all fake or inactive accounts.
Now, what that really means, is that a whole lot of Obama’s “audience” is non-existent. Gee, liberals padding the numbers? Nah, no way….
Obama had 104 million Twitter followers before Twitter’s purge, according to The Hill, and had around 101 million by Thursday evening.
Still, the former president trails only Katy Perry and Justin Bieber on the platform, and the three boast the only accounts to have over 100 million followers.
President Trump reportedly had 53.4 million Twitter followers before the Twitter purge, and has lost around 300,000 for a Thursday evening follower count of 53.1 million. Trump remains the 18th most-followed person on Twitter.
On Wednesday, Twitter announced its intention to remove “locked accounts” from follower counts in order to “build trust and encourage healthy conversation on Twitter.”

Social media was one of the tools the left used to mobilize young people in the Democratic Party, connecting with them using platforms they were comfortable with.
However, President Trump has taken the use of social media to an all new level by using it to build his entire base and essentially win the presidential election with his brand of brutally honest tweeting.
One thing’s for sure. Like it or not, the usage of social media has a huge impact on elections and if the platform isn’t utilized correctly, GOP candidates run the risk of losing to their Democratic opponents.
