Over 20 People Flew to DC from Africa, Now Being Monitored Due to Ebola Virus Fears

The coronavirus pandemic is beginning to fade here in 2021, just over a year after COVID-19 first began shutting America down in earnest.

We tried the two-week lockdown to “flatten the curve”. We looked at all manner of therapeutics. In the end, it took a number of vaccines to truly slay the beast, and as that rollout continues, states from Texas to Florida are working on ways to safely reopen.

But don’t get too comfortable…another challenger has entered the ring.

From Sacramento Bee:

Washington was considered ground zero for COVID-19 in the U.S., and now 23 travelers from the state are being monitored for another deadly contagious virus: Ebola.

The travelers recently returned from the West African countries of Guinea and the Democratic Republic of Congo — where there are outbreaks of the deadly virus — according to a news release from the state’s Department of Health.

Experts weren’t too concerned, however.

The risk of Ebola coming to the United States remains “extremely low,” according to a news release last month from the Centers from Disease Control and Prevention.

Likewise, people in Washington are considered “low risk” for getting the virus, the state health department says.

And while that may be reassuring for some, we can’t help but shake the feeling that, between COVID, murder hornets, and the other assorted calamities of the last year, we maybe shouldn’t let our guard down.
