While keen political observers have been well aware of this fact for some time already, the Democratic Party has been somewhat in denial.
Joe Biden continues to suggest that he’ll run for reelection in 2024, despite his abysmal approval ratings and consistently poor job performance. In recent weeks, a number of high-profile Democrats have even publicly suggested that they’d like to see some other options on the table, (or they’ve danced around the question awkwardly).
But now, a new poll has shown just how bleak Biden’s reelection outlook truly is.
A large majority of Democrats want someone other than President Joe Biden to be their party’s candidate for the White House in 2024, according to a new poll.
Just 26% of Democrats said they would prefer Biden as their party’s candidate, with 64% saying they want to see someone else head the ticket, according to The New York Times/Siena College Research Institute survey of registered voters.
The youth was not enthused in the least.
While that finding is potentially very bad news for the 79-year-old incumbent’s reelection hopes, the poll has even worse news for Biden when it comes to younger Democratic voters and for how all voters see the country’s direction.Advertisement - story continues below
A whopping 94% of Democrats who are less than 30 years old said they want someone besides Biden to be their nominee, the survey found.
Biden’s approval rating has hit historic lows in recent days, dipping below the 30% mark and putting him in league with such scoundrels as Richard Nixon.
