Jeb Bush never stood a chance against Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primaries, despite what the early polls may have suggested.

Now, a pro-Jeb! PAC is in deep.

The super PAC has been hit with the third largest fine in FEC history for accepting illegal contributions from a Chinese corporation.

From Politico:

The Federal Election Commission on Monday doled out $940,000 in fines to the super PAC that backed Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential bid and a Chinese-owned corporation that made illegal donations to it.

The unusually large FEC fines came after the commission found evidence Bush’s super PAC took money from a foreign national, which is prohibited under federal election law. The super PAC, Right to Rise, was fined $390,000 for the violation, while the FEC gave an additional $550,000 fine to American Pacific International Capital, Inc. The company had donated $1.3 million to Bush’s super PAC in the spring of 2015, as Bush was gearing up for a run for president.

“Today’s action is a rare and remarkable step by the FEC, and a reminder that safeguarding our elections against foreign interference is in America’s vital national security interests,” said Trevor Potter, president of the Campaign Legal Center, which filed a complaint about the donations in August 2016 to the FEC. “This illegal $1.3 million contribution is unmistakable proof that Citizens United opened the floodgates to foreign money in the U.S., and it is surely the tip of the iceberg.”

Trump gave a rousing speech at CPAC on Saturday that had conservatives cheering.

One quote about signing a new executive order on free speech, though, sent a stark warning to liberal American colleges.

Check this out…

From The Hill:

President Trump announced Saturday he intends to sign an executive order mandating colleges and universities take steps to guarantee free speech to attain federal research grants.

Trump: “We reject oppressive speech codes, censorship, political correctness and every other attempt by the hard left to stop people from challenging ridiculous and dangerous ideas. These ideas are dangerous. Instead we believe in free speech, including online and including on campus.

Trump: “Today I’m proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research grants.

The announcement came after he brought Hayden Williams on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Williams is a conservative activist who was punched in the face at the University of California at Berkeley last month while assisting the university’s chapter of the right-wing group Turning Point USA.

Trump sent this tweet back in February:

If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?

Why is it that President Trump not only has to fight Democrats to get his America first agenda across, but he has to go through stubborn Republicans, too?

Did Barack Obama have this problem with members of his party?

Nope.

Ted Cruz Blocks Resolution Honoring RBG After Democrats Try Slipping Through ‘Dying Wish’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer thinks he’s a slick old billy goat, but he’s no match for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who blocked Schumer’s resolution to honor the recently deceased Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg after he tried to slip in some language that would emphasize honoring her “dying wish” not to be replaced until after the inauguration. Hey, you know, we all make dying wishes. Most of us don’t get to see them come true. That’s just a part of life. Here’s more on this from the Daily Wire: “Republicans came to us with this resolution, but it ignored Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish — what she called her ‘most fervent wish’ — that she not be replaced until a new president is installed. So we simply have added it to the exact same text of the resolution that the Republicans gave us,” Schumer said on the Senate floor. “All the kind words and lamentations about Justice Ginsburg from the Republican majority will be totally empty if those Republicans ignore her dying wish and instead move to replace Justice Ginsburg with someone who will tear down everything she built,” Schumer continued. He singled out abortion, gay marriage, union rights, and healthcare as the main issues he fears will crumble under a Trump-appointed justice. Cruz, in response, said, “Unfortunately, the Democratic leader has put forth an amendment to turn that bipartisan resolution into a partisan resolution.” “Specifically, the Democratic leader wants to add a statement that Justice Ginsburg’s position should not be filled until a new president is installed, purportedly based on a comment Justice Ginsburg made to family members shortly before she passed,” the Texas senator added. Ginsburg reportedly dictated to her granddaughter that her “most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”…

Top Debate Coach Reveals What Could Potentially Derail Biden During First Presidential Debate

If you’re dying for some entertaining television, you’re going to finally get what you are craving next week when President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden go head-to-head during a televised debate, the first of the season. This, ladies and gentlemen, is going to be one for the ages that you won’t want to miss. Ahead of the debate, Brett O’Donnell, a top debate coach, has revealed a few things that might end up derailing Biden during this first debate. via Fox News: “[Biden] has not done any tough interviews in this campaign so far, whether or not he can handle the toughest of interviews, a presidential debate, being attacked by the president and also tough questions from Chris Wallace in that first debate remains to be seen,” O’Donnell told “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday. “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace was selected to moderate the first presidential debate scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Case Western University and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. The format for the first showdown calls for six 15-minute-long segments – with each segment dedicated to a particular topic. Trump was interviewed by Wallace in July and Kilmeade pointed out that the president “basically went through” the list of debate topics “with the guy that’s going to be hitting him with the questions.” “I think that’s a tremendous advantage,” the debate coach said. “First of all, Chris Wallace is a tough interviewer, he is tough on everyone.” “The president has been through that now and so he can anticipate how Chris Wallace might approach this debate,” O’Donnell continued. No matter how you cut it, the president is far more prepared and mentally lucid for this debate than Joe Biden could ever hope to be in his current state. There are so many…
