Here we go again!?

The general sentiment in America today is that coronavirus, and the pandemic that it ushered into being, are on the way out. The feeling is that we are about to be bathed in the light that’s been shining at the end of the tunnel, and “normalcy” may even return by the time we’re all firing up the grill for the Fourth of July.

But, then comes news of a major case surge, threatening to wreck it all.

From Axios:

America may be at the beginning of a fourth wave in the pandemic. It will almost certainly be far less deadly than the previous three, but this persistent failure to contain the virus has real consequences, and will only make it harder to put COVID-19 behind us.

By the numbers: On average, roughly 63,000 Americans per day were diagnosed with coronavirus infections over the past week. That’s a 17% increase from the week before, and echoes the rising caseloads of the pandemic’s second wave last summer.

Average daily caseloads increased over the past week in 25 states. The biggest spikes were in Michigan and New York.

Even as vaccinations continue to climb, new cases only declined in five states, mainly in the Southeast.

Vaccination rates are soaring, however, with the Biden administration having surpassed their goal of 100 million vaccinations in 100 days in nearly half the time.

This could help to stave off the fourth wave, but experts suggest that we shouldn’t rely on the jab alone during these final throes of the pandemic.

A black man brutally beat an elderly Mexican-American woman on an L.A. bus reportedly because he thought she was an Asian woman. A 70-year-old woman of Mexican heritage was riding on an L.A. bus last week when, according to police, 23-year-old Yasmine Beasley attacked her. The victim’s family says that the attacker yelled an Asian slur at her as he attacked. “The victim’s son reportedly says that a female passenger, described as ‘black,’ called his mother an anti-Asian slur and then attacked her,” according to a report by KTLA. The woman’s family says that the man beat her in the face, severely hurt her lag, and pulled out some of her hair. Photos of the woman shows her face is heavily bruised. Per the station: The Mexican American victim was profiled as Asian by her attacker, who hurled a racial epithet used against people of Chinese descent before attacking the grandmother as she got off the bus to go grocery shopping, according to the son, who gave his name only as Pete. Beasley was charged with felony battery charges. Police reports show that Beasley is being held on a $130,000 bond and is due in court on Friday. A Perfect Example How the Media Lies to Push a Left-Wing Agenda

Venture capitalist and novelist J.D. Vance has the perfect example of how the biased media lies to push their left-wing agenda. Vance, who wrote the popular book Hillbilly Elegy, reports that he decided to quit the board of directors of Kentucky green energy company AppHarvest. But after he resigned, the left-wing media began pushing the fake news tale that he left the board under a cloud because Bloomberg caused the company to force him out. This claim that he was forced out is a provable lie. But despite the truth, outlets including the Cincinnati Enquirer, The Lexington Herald Leader, The New York Post, Bloomberg and the Associated Press and more all pushed the lie as if it was incontrovertible fact. Bloomberg claimed that Vance was forced out because he posted “controversial tweets” which had prompted the Bloomberg to ask AppHarvest to account for Vance’s tweets. But this is false. Vance did post tweets that leftists would find “controversial,” but they were posted after he left the company. Vance finally went to Twitter to describe how the left-wing media lied about the situation. “Alright, here’s a story about how the media often shapes narratives instead of reporting the truth, and how a small untruth can morph into a lie that’s repeated again and again throughout the media bubble,” Vance wrote Friday on Twitter.
