RNC Lashes Out at Facebook Over Continuation of Trump Ban
This week, Americans received a scary little tidbit of a glimpse into the future of our Constitution, and not everyone is happy about it.
Just a day ago, Facebook reiterated its banning of Donald Trump from the platform, after what was characterized as a “thorough” review by the social media company’s “official” review board.
Of course, nothing about this is real or government sanctioned. Instead, Facebook is acting arbitrarily in the matter, which has many Americans concerned about what this means for free speech, and whether or not we are hurtling toward some technological oligarchy in the near-future.
The RNC has recognized that potential for disaster and is now lashing out over the decision.
The Republican National Committee slammed Facebook as “an extension of the left’s woke mob” after the company’s oversight board upheld a ban on President Trump.
“We’ve known for multiple cycles that Facebook, Twitter and Big Tech have become an extension of the left’s woke mob. The First Amendment and our freedom of speech is a right granted to all Americans from the Constitution, not from Facebook’s ‘Oversight Board,’” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to Fox News.
“If Big Tech can ban a former President, what’s to stop them from silencing the American people next?” she added.
The band itself was instituted in the wake of the January 6th attempted insurrection at the US Capitol, out of fear that Trump could fuel further violence via social media.
This, despite the fact that the Senate voted swiftly to acquit Trump in a case in which he was accused of “incitement” over the incident.
