Rural Police Shun Silly State Law Over Second Amendment Concerns

The Second Amendment is, at its most basic, our insurance policy for the American Dream.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness cannot be achieved or maintained while any one man has power over another.  The right to bear arms guarantees that we are all equal to one another, but, more importantly, that we as a people are on par with any government that so chooses to pick a fight with us – foreign or domestic.  Furthermore, the Founding Fathers gave us the ultimate say in the matter by simply stating that the Second Amendment “shall not be infringed”.

These 4 words are our ticket to everlasting liberty.  At any such time as we feel “infringed” upon in terms of our right to bear arms, we have been told, in no uncertain terms by the Founders themselves that something’s gone awry at the top.

Remember, our founding documents aren’t merely a roadmap forward, but they are based intrinsically on the experiences of a population under siege by their own government.  The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were meant for We The People, not for those already in power.  The Constitution is very specifically written to instruct Americans to rise when necessary, and not allow their rights to be trampled upon.

And this revolt isn’t always violent.   Sometimes, this revolt against creeping tyranny comes in stoic, common sense responses to extraordinarily asinine situations.

Sheriffs in rural Washington state are reportedly refusing to enforce the gun controls contained in I-1639, an initiative passed by voters in November 2018.

The initiative was funded by millionaires and billionaires.

For example, the NRA-ILA reported that “billionaire Microsoft co-founder and Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers owner Paul Allen … [donated] $1 million.” Venture capitalist Nick Hanauer also gave $1 million.

These officers, despite the risk that would cause they themselves at work, took a stand against an overreach by the government in order to do what’s best for their flock.

This is what the Constitution truly is:  A map of where all the lines must be drawn.  Thank goodness these Sheriffs trusted the map.
