Russia Calls Biden's Latest Statement 'Alarming'
The war of words between Russia and the rest of the civilized world continues this week, as the Kremlin feigns some sort of outrage over the way US President Joe Biden has regarded the situation.
It all began days ago when Biden appeared to call for “regime change” in Russia, making an off-the-cuff statement that he “cannot remain in power”. It only took a few hours for the White House and the State Department to start trying to whitewash those words and walk back Biden’s fiery suggestion.
The Kremlin, however, heard what they wanted to hear, and are now using the moment to drum up some faux outrage.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday that a remark made by President Joe Biden over the weekend about Vladimir Putin, in which Biden said “for God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” is a “statement that is certainly alarming,” Reuters reports.
“We will continue to track the statements of the U.S. president in the most attentive way,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin has consistently played dumb when it comes to the global perception of their behavior in Ukraine, often suggesting that they were “de-nazifying” the nation despite the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a Jewish descendent of Holocaust victims.
