Scarlett Johansson Shamed Out of Transgender Movie, Now Look What Might be Happening to the Film
Hollywood is a cesspool of liberalism and progressive ideology, often pushing out art and entertainment with subversive ideas that twist God’s good design for family, marriage, sexuality, and gender identity.
Thus, when it was announced a filthy film called “Rub & Tug” about a transgender massage parlor owner was being made, it was not exactly a huge shock. After all, the film industry has become the propaganda wing of the left over the last several decades.
However, controversy struck the film’s production when it was announced that actress Scarlett Johansson would be playing the lead role in the film, as the left shamed her for not legitimately being transgender. They wanted “representation” meaning an actual trans actor to play the part.
These folks kept the pressure up until Johansson dropped out of the project. What these people don’t realize is that without star power to put butts in theater seats and sell tickets, the movie would be a bad investment for the production company, and now, alas, it might not even get made.
Political correctness strikes again.
“The future of ‘Rub & Tug’ is in limbo following Scarlett Johansson’s exit from the project because of objections to her playing a trans man,” The Wrap reports. “According to an individual with knowledge of the project, it is unclear if ‘Rub & Tug’ will actually go into production. The insider indicated it doesn’t look good for the movie, which still has director Rupert Sanders attached.”d
Johansson’s production company, These Pictures, was set to co-produce the film, but now that she’s no longer starring in the project, “it’s unclear” if the company will stay on, The Wrap reports. Also unclear is whether Joel Silver’s production company Silver Pictures will move forward with the project if These Pictures pulls out.

Johansson initially defended her decision to take on the role, arguing that playing a transgender character was no different than transgender actors playing cisgender roles. That prompted even more forceful backlash from activists, which ultimately convinced Johansson to reverse her decision, issuing the following statement to Out Magazine:
In light of recent ethical questions raised surrounding my casting as Dante Tex Gill, I have decided to respectfully withdraw my participation in the project. Our cultural understanding of transgender people continues to advance, and I’ve learned a lot from the community since making my first statement about my casting and am grateful that the conversation regarding inclusivity in Hollywood continues. According to GLAAD, LGBTQ+ characters dropped 40% from 2017 from the previous year, with no representation of trans characters in any major studio release. While I would have loved the opportunity to bring Dante’s story and transition to life, I understand why many feel he should be portrayed by a transgender person, and I am thankful that this casting debate, albeit controversial, has sparked a larger conversation about diversity and representation in film. I believe that all artists should be considered equally and fairly. My production company, These Pictures, actively pursues projects that both entertain and push boundaries. We look forward to working with every community to bring these most poignant and important stories to audiences worldwide.
Now, the fact the movie might not even be made is no problem as far as the rest of the sane world is concerned. After all, the vast majority of folks in America still believe in traditional, God defined roles for men and women. And, you know, there’s the whole science denial by folks who think transgenderism is a real thing and not a mental disorder.
It’s somewhat hysterical to see the left eating their own and the application of their own principles completely destroy something they actually wanted. You can’t have “representation” in major Hollywood films without star power. They shot themselves in the foot with this one.
