The Supreme Court just delivered a huge blow to the nation’s leading supplier of abortion, Planned Parenthood, by shutting down the organization’s request to review an appeals court decision that upheld pro-life legislation on abortion pills in Arkansas.
The measure in question was concerning an abortion pill known as mifepristone, which prevents an unborn child from attaching to the wall of the uterus, causing the baby to be miscarried.
The state’s law requires the pregnancy-ending pills to be administered by a doctor who holds “a contract with another physician who has admitting privileges at a hospital, and would agree to handle and treat complications,” according to the Associated Press.Advertisement - story continues below
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which overturned the ruling against the pro-life law, put the legislation on hold as Planned Parenthood made their unsuccessful legal challenge. As of Tuesday, Arkansas can enforce the safety measure.
The move by the Supreme Court has advanced the pro-life cause significantly in Arkansas, where Planned Parenthood affiliates do not provide surgical abortions and reportedly cannot find any willing obstetricians to comply with the upheld pro-life measure concerning abortion pills.Trending:
“As Attorney General, I have fully defended this law at every turn and applaud the Supreme Court’s decision against Planned Parenthood today,” praised Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
“Protecting the health and well-being of women and the unborn will always be a priority. We are a pro-life state and always will be as long as I am attorney general.”
Many liberals often wonder why in the world conservatives are so hardcore on the issue of abortion and want to know why we can’t just let people choose to do what they want with their bodies.
Well, first of all, both science and the Christian faith have made it clear life begins at the moment of conception and we believe that all people are made in the image of God, thus making human life special, unique, and deserving of protection. Thus, the unborn baby is their own person, meaning the mother’s body argument is irrelevant as it’s not her body.
Secondly, if we don’t stand up against what we know to be evil, that makes us complicit in the evil and costs these precious unborn souls their lives.
Third, how can we be a free country where rights and liberties are protected when we won’t stand up for the most defenseless citizens in our country?
That’s why this issue is so crucial.
